Metal‐Free Organic Triplet Emitters with On–Off Switchable Excited State Intramolecular Proton Transfer

چکیده
Metal-free organic triplet emitters are an emerging class of semiconducting material. Among them, molecules with tunable emission responsive to environmental stimuli have shown great potential in solid-state lighting, sensors, and anti-counterfeiting systems. Here, a novel excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) system is proposed showing the activation thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) or room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) simultaneously from both keto enol tautomers. The prototype ESIPT exhibit up 50% quantum yield. Their enol–keto tautomerization can be switched by controlling matrix acidity doped polymer films. Taking advantage these unique properties, “on-off” switchable systems controlled acid vapor annealing, as well photopatterning capable generating facile high-contrast emissive patterns, devised.

Excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) in dihydroxyphenyl anthracenes.
The photochemistry of three 9-(dihydroxyphenyl)anthracenes 6-8 was studied in neat CH(3)CN and selected organic solvents, to investigate excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) from the phenol to the anthracene moiety. In D(2)O-CH(3)CN mixtures, the observed deuterium exchange of 6-8 is consistent with water-mediated (formal) ESIPT process from the ortho phenolic OH to the 10'-posi...

A few of excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) compounds have been discovered for their aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE). To understand the AIEE mechanism, an ESIPT compound BTHPB (N-(4-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-3-hydroxyphenyl)benzamide) with simple structure was designed and synthesized. BTHPB showed apparent AIEE property and the emission efficiency was observed as...

Hydrogen bonding interactions between biological chromophores and their surrounding protein and solvent environment significantly affect the photochemical pathways of the chromophore and its biological function. A common first step in the dynamics of these systems is excited state proton transfer between the noncovalently bound molecules, which stabilizes the system against dissociation and pri...

Visible light excitation of the ligand-bridged assembly [(bpy)(2)Ru(a)(II)(L)Ru(b)(II)(bpy)(OH(2))(4+)] (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine; L is the bridging ligand, 4-phen-tpy) results in emission from the lowest energy, bridge-based metal-to-ligand charge transfer excited state (L(-•))Ru(b)(III)-OH(2) with an excited-state lifetime of 13 ± 1 ns. Near-diffusion-controlled quenching of the emission occurs...
متن کاملElementary steps in excited-state proton transfer.
The absorption of a photon by a hydroxy-aromatic photoacid triggers a cascade of events contributing to the overall phenomenon of intermolecular excited-state proton transfer. The fundamental steps involved were studied over the last 20 years using a combination of theoretical and experimental techniques. They are surveyed in this sequel in sequential order, from fast to slow. The excitation tr...
